Characterizing the properties of sustainable semi-flexible pavement produced with polymer modified bitumen

نویسندگان

چکیده

Semi-Flexible Pavement (SFP) is a composite type of pavement produced by manufacturing porous asphalt mixes using open graded aggregate gradation to create 20-35% voids filled with grout (cement paste, cement mortar, etc.….). The resulting has the flexibility and some strength concrete pavement. current study focused on investigation widely available (in Iraq) waste material namely Rice Husk Ash (RHA) replace Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) partially in grout, also, Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB) develop Open-Graded Asphalt (OGA) without cellulous fibre. assessment mechanical properties obtained SFP PMB. results showed that PMB increased Marshall Stability up 100% indirect tensile 50%. Retained gave about 90% which quite higher minimum required limit (70%). also revealed RHA can be used as replacement for OPC mixes. All investigated percentages satisfactory properties.

Rheological properties of modified Bitumen: Comparison of waste polymers’ performance

In this investigation, rheological properties of three different polymer-modified bitumen compounds containing recycled polyethylene terephthalate (R-PET), crumb rubber (CR) and poly (styrene-butadiene-styrene) (SBS) are evaluated and compared. The modified samples were tested by a dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) where complex modulus (G*), phase angle (δ) and rutting resistance (G*/Sinδ) of spec...

Comparative Study of Eva and Waste Polymer Modified Bitumen

Polymer-modified bitumen is used to combat different pavement distresses and to increase the life span of pavement. Unmodified bitumen cannot perform better with the range extreme minimum and maximum pavement temperatures. The polymers commonly used to modify the bitumen are ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) styrene butadiene styrene (SBS). The aim this study to compare the performance of EVA modifi...

Short-Term Aging Effect on Properties of Sustainable Pavement Asphalts Modified by Waste Rubber and Diatomite

Waste utilization has gained more and more interest. In this study, crumb rubber and diatomite were used to modify asphalt binder and the short-term aging effects on the properties of modified asphalts were evaluated. Three kinds of modified asphalt were prepared; they are diatomite modified asphalt (DA), crumb rubber modified asphalt (RA), and diatomite and crumb rubber compound modified aspha...
